Acquitted by Jury

Our client was pulled over in a vehicle that had recently been the subject of a carjacking on the north side of Fort Pierce. He was a passenger in this vehicle, but was still taken into custody.  Our client said he got picked up by a couple of friends just before the vehicle had been pulled over by the police. He told the police on videotape that he didn’t know anything about any carjacking.  The State offered ten years.  Our client did not want to accept an offer to a crime he did not commit.  We announced ready for trial and picked a jury.  After cross-examining the alleged victim and the police, the defense rested without putting on any evidence.  The jury came back an hour later with a verdict of NOT GUILTY and our client went home to his family.
