Prescription Fraud | Charges Dropped

Our client was charged with doctor shopping. He was injured in a serious accident and went looking for a second opinion from another physician. Turns out Florida law can be very unforgiving of such a decision. Our client had a great job with Florida Power and Light (FPL) and was informed that any plea that resulted in a finding of guilt or a withhold of adjudication of guilt would result in his immediate termination and loss of his pension. The defense engaged in a series of negotiations with the prosecutor in an attempt to facilitate the client’s special circumstances. Our client was granted the opportunity to participate in drug court. He was successfully released from his drug court obligations after less than six months and the charges against our client were dropped.
