Leaving the scene of an accident – charges dropped
State v. V.R. , 2009-CT-2527 (St. Lucie County)
Arresting Agency: Fort Pierce Police Department
Case Summary: “V.R. was driving home when he sideswiped a telephone pole on Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce. He continued to drive his vehicle a few houses beyond the location of the accident. He stopped his vehicle in the nearest safe location and called for a tow truck. The police arrived and charged him with leaving the scene because they thought he should have stopped his vehicle immediately. Through our investigative efforts, including a comprehensive documentation of the scene, we were able to demonstrate that the nearest location for our client to stop his car was exactly where he actually did stop.”
Result: Charges Dropped the Charges after Defense Investigation.
